Under our Life Skills course, Camp R.E.E.S. looks forward to teaming up with local organizations to house and train service dogs and emotional support dogs for disabled veterans and whomever else may benefit from the assistance of such an animal. This is another way that our organization will be able to give back, as well as the participants. We predict that our service dog program, Providing All Workable Services (PAWS), will enable our participants to build their self-esteem and self-worth; in addition to the values and morals that will be ingrained as they see the positive results of their personal hard work and dedication.
Furthermore, camp officials will schedule two trips for the cohort to participate in the community. These trips will reflect the good within the participant while showing the participant the benefits of being positive contributors to society.
Participants will only be allowed to leave the program at the times specified above. Under extreme circumstances may a participant or his/her family request a furlough. Such requests will be considered on a case by case basis. All furloughs will require a staff escort and shall not exceed twelve (12) hours.
Lastly, in addition to the two community relation trips, camp officials eagerly await the opportunity to reward each graduating cohort with a trip to a venue of their choice, for the hard work they will have put in over the span of the twelve months.
In addition to applicable fees for our services, we will be seeking funds through funds made available through Congressional Acts i.e., Second chance Act. etc. Such actions have millions of federal fundings available and show promise to have a substantiated amount available in time lor launch. We will also apply for and seek out both government and state grants.
We believe that our most meaningful and heartfelt donations/contributions will come from the communities and its citizens. We look forward to hosting banquets and other events to raise money and awareness.
For the moment, we are targeting juveniles between the ages of 16-18 years old, who are at great risk of being committed to the state’s youth authority or any other juvenile detention center. Juveniles within the specified age range can be referred to Camp R.E.E.S. through the Juvenile Justice System or through private agreement. We’ve chosen to focus on ages 16-18 for three chief reasons: 1) This range is of ages that many believe are hopeless and will not turn away from their delinquent ways. 2) This range, are of ages that can be charged as adults in many states, increasing their chances of being committed to the Department of Corrections, running an extreme risk of recidivism and institutionalization. 3) This range, are of ages that are suitable to receive their G.E.D. enroll into college, and/or enter the workforce, becoming an indispensable member of society. Camp officials may consider implementing a program for younger juveniles at a later date.

We look forward to extending our volunteer program to students in need of community service hours and Regional Occupational Program Credits. In this field of work, we look forward to providing employment to men and women who were formerly incarcerated.
Camp Resistance, Escape, Evasion, and Survival is a troubled teen’s alternative to incarceration. We are a team of dedicated men and women, who are determined to help the participants who are enrolled into our program get their lives on the right track and put their potential to good use for themselves and for society.
As testaments to the change of a fixed mindset, our ultimate goal at Camp R.E.E.S. is to change the participant’s mindset from ‘fixed’ to one of growth and prepare them with the basic fundamentals needed not just to contribute to society and its workforce, but also to be successful as they face the many challenges of adulthood. As men and women who have experienced similar circumstances, we believe that we have an outstanding chance at preserving our future in this way.
Yes. Camp R.E.E.S. will dedicate an additional six months to the field of psychology’s minimal recommendation. It is clinically proven that a minimum of six months are reinforced and positive treatment/training is needed in order to see a positive change in the human psyche. By extending our program to twelve months, we are able to effectively promote a positive change through our training methods, allowing us to help solidify the participants fondation and seek opportunities when reentering society. Our Anti-Recidivism program will continue to monitor and help adjust after graduation, up to the age of 25.
During the first two weeks of the program, participants are required to reside in a simulation unit. The unit is designed to simulate the conditions of a prison environment. At the end of the simulation, all participants will be assigned to one of four L.Q.s where they will reside for the remainder of their stay. Each L.Q. will house twenty-five participants from their respective cohorts, in a dorm living setting. Showers and lavatories will be accessible at the rear of each L.Q. It will be the responsibility of the participants to keep their assigned living space/quarters in immaculate conditions. The camp will provide all necessary materials and training to ensure that the participants are able to meet the organization's standards.
We at Camp R.E.E.S. understand the dogma surrounding the type of juveniles we are reaching out to, as well as understand the challenges they face while functioning under their current mind-set. We look forward to exhausting all of our resources in an attempt to change said mind-sets. In addition to the core courses: G.E.D, Drug and Alcohol Resistance, Anger Management, Alternative to Violence, Gang Resistance, and Parenting; each participant will be required to satisfactorily partake in the camp’s life skills course. The life skills course will be specifically designed to prepare the participants for real life situations, such as Job Search Preparedness, Money Management, and Continued Education Preparedness.
Yes. all participants will be expected to abide by the grooming standards and dress code set forth by the camp. In requiring our participants to wear a uniform, we’re hopeful that our use of this practice will help us to promote the level of discipline we aim to instill in our participants. Additionally, as is amongst our armed forces, the implementation of certain grooming standards, coupled with our dress code, forces the participants to identify with one-another as a single functioning team that is in pursuit of the same goals; and not single-out an individual participant for his/her appearance.
The founders of Camp R.E.E.S. has a comprehensive expansion plan in mind, in order to accommodate all interested jurisdictions/parties. However, for the first three years of operations, the organization will only cater to male participants. After which time, Camp ‘B’ of our first site will welcome its first cohort of female participants.
We are considering allowing both Camps 'A’ And ‘B’ to enjoy their graduation ceremonies together. We have yet to come to a conclusion. Otherwise, genders will not be allowed to commingle. Each camp site will have dual facilities to separately accommodate each gender. After our initial five years of operations we hope to expand at a rate of one site every one to three years.
Yes. Camp officials will attempt to remain in contact with the participants who successfully complete the program for three to five years; as well as encourage them to remain in contact with us, in an attempt to keep them on the right track. Camp R.E.E.S. will establish and maintain strong ties and communications with transitional homes; halfway homes; employers; job placement agencies; substance abuse programs; and any other credible establishment, in communities that are willing to proactively endorse our anti-recidivism department and support our graduates.
Yes. All Camp R.E.E.S. compounds will be equipped to handle violent incidents. In our efforts to be a self-contained organization, all staff will be trained and certified in the use of non-lethal force. Such techniques will enable camp staff to protect any person(s) from the attack of another, as well as swiftly stop any person(s) in the commission of any attack. These techniques may also include, but are not limited to, the use of chemical agents and/or devices.
If any incident proves to be overwhelmingly difficult to be contained by camp staff, local law enforcement personnel will be summoned.
All disciplinary action(s) imposed on a participant as a result of a participant’s violation of the organization’s ‘ Rules of Conduct and
Expectations’, will be imposed by a three person disciplinary committee.
Actions imposed may range from a written warning to a request for
Executive Action, depending on the violation(s) committed.
The safety of each participant enrolled is one of the organization’s utmost priorities. In preparation for a variety of conceivable situations, our staff will be trained to have a presence of mind, in addition to being trained in various methods in order to swiftly execute a proper response as effortlessly as possible.
Depending on the specific training, these sessions may take place quarterly or annually. Annual training will have a minimum of one refresher course within six months and/or on a case by case basis.
Absolutely. We believe that a strong support group is essential for the participant to establish a strong foundation. We encourage the immediate family of the participant to make themselves available for visits as often as possible once visiting hours are established and implemented at the camp. Transportation may be provided to and/or from the campsite for approved visitors through Camp R.E.E.S.’ visitation program.
Persons interested in visiting a participant will have to meet all prerequisites set forth which may differ per campsite and will include the successful completion of a life skills course.
Our strategic approach to the pandemic of juvenile incarceration is not seen in the juvenile justice system. Surveys may show that many in this line of work only have a clinical understanding of the experience(s) that troubled teens are going through and can not relate to the pupil. This could make it highly improbable to overcome the pupils' fixed mindset. In addition to the camp's mentor-to-participant ratio, our approaches are led by individuals that have grown from the same circumstances as our participants.
Though a clinical approach may at times be warranted, it alone runs a high risk of pushing the youth away from reform, because the mentor can not relate to the pupil. Being mentored by survivors of the same circumstances, people that have bettered themselves, proves to the pupil that an understandable link can be made, which may encourage the pupil to knock down their walls and allow us to help them help themselves and put their potential to good meaningful use.
Each site's emergency plan may vary depending on its geographical location. Each compound will execute emergency procedures based on what is currently in place within that compound’s public school district. Our organization will strive to be as self-contained as legally possible, in an emergency situation, so as not to deprive the compound’s surrounding community of emergency personnel and/or resources. Camp R.E.E.S. will continuously strive to ensure that all employees are above par in their emergency response training by collaborating with local and state emergency personnel.
In addition to vehicles capable of evacuating persons from a site/compound in the event of an emergency, each site will adequately be equipped with emergency alert systems, surveillance cameras, and emergency apparatuses; which all camp employees will be trained in their use. Our operations department will ensure that all employees obtain and maintain all required certifications during their employment.
Yes. There will be a period of one month of mandatory participation from the parents/guardians of the participants enrolled in the program. These sessions will fall under our Life Skills-Parent Program and are made up of two phases. It is highly recommended that phase one of the two part course is completed within the initial ninety (90) days of the program. Phase one will be a two week (ten days) flash course, covering the core courses that each participant will partake in over the next year. It is designed to highlight important pointers that parents can/should use with their children, in and out of Camp R.E.E.S. Phase two will be the camp’s ‘Parents vs Gangs’ awareness course. This course will highlight the gang awareness signs and what can be done to stop gang influence on their child(ren) and in their home.
Additionally, there will be our Family and Friends Against Narcotics and Alcohol Program. This volunteer course is one that allows for a family member or friend to take with a participant. The idea is to allow a close family member or friend, who may or may not be battling addiction, to attend Alcoholic Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous courses with the participant to encourage one-another and help one-another overcome their addiction. This will also help establish the support group that the participant will need to build on.
Each camp site’s medical department will be open and staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week; overseen by the organization's Chief Medical Officer. While in our care, all participants can expect to receive two medical examinations over the course of the twelve months. The first taking place within the first two weeks. One dental exam and cleaning within the twelve months.
Participants will be given the opportunity to speak with a triage nurse on any day of the week, at a time specified by the camp site. The process will be known as “sick call”. Each case will be assigned to proper medical staff including a gynecologist for our female participant; based on the participant’s chief complaint. Unless determined to be a priority treatment case. In which case will be seen immediately, participants will be seen by the physician or his/her designee within thirty-six hours.
All Camp R.E.E.S. medical departments will be equipped to render basic medical care/treatment and advanced life support. All Camp R.E.E.S. employees and volunteers will be certified in C.P.R. and First Aid as well as trained in the use of all emergency apparatuses found throughout the camp.
In the event of a contagious outbreak, all of Camp R.E.E.S. medical departments will have a five observation rooms that will double as medical isolation rooms to house and threat infected participants. Cells in the camp’s breakdown quarters may be used to house up to five more infected participants. May be used to house up to five more infected participants. If more than ten (10) participants are infected, operations will be suspended until the organization’s Chief Medical Officers approves normal operations and proper decontamination has been accomplished.
Although there will be several recreational amenities available to the participants for their enjoyment, Camp R.E.E.S. is not a “fun in the sun” summer camp. Participants should expect to work diligently with us and not expect a vacation.
Each camp site will be equipped with a ‘leisure room’. It will be there that the participants will find a variety of table games, board games, televisions, books, magazines, and music. Access to the leisure room is a privilege that is earned by each participant for his/her hard work. For the participant that does not abide by the Rules of Conduct and Expectations set forth by the organization, s(he) may be subject to being denied access to the leisure room for a time period set by the disciplinary committee.
Additionally, participants will be allowed to utilize all work out equipment on his/her personal time, if s(he) desires to do so.
